How to Diagnose EMC? (Part 3)

图片
Introduction : This article will share EMS diagnosis skills and case analysis after the former articles of analyzing the common knowledge of EMC rectification and EMI diagnostic skills and case analysis. EMS is mainly divided into: electronic static discharge (ESD), electrical fast transient (EFT), surge. Through this article, MORNSUN POWER SUPPLY  will detail its rectification and positioning and illustrate with specific cases.   1. Electronic static discharge (ESD) rectification and positioning   The path is the most important for static electricity. Without a path, static electricity cannot be discharged, that is, there would be no static electricity problem. Therefore, when analyzing static electricity, the path should be mainly analyzed, which is the idea of ESD diagnostic analysis. First determine whether there is a path, if there is, then determine whether the electrostatic current flows into the sensitive circuit, if it is, cut it off, and take measures of ...

How to Diagnose EMC? (Part 02)

图片
This article will mainly share the diagnosing techniques and case analysis of EMI. 1. How to determine the type of the noise? (1). Conductive noise positioning Solutions vary with different types of the noise As for conductive interference, the general experience within the industry is to take relative rectification measures after determining whether it is differential mode EMI or common mode EMI  according to the frequency range that exceeds the limits. This classification, as a conclusion worked out in accordance with a large quantity of test data and rectification experience, has reference value in engineering analysis.   (2). Radiation noise positioning   The figure above is about radiation test, displaying different shapes of noise such as bun-like wave and spike pulse. We can generally determine whether it is the power supply or system frequency according to the test wave shapes. Different noise has different solutions, and the point is to find out the accura...

How to diagnose EMC? (Part 01)

  1. What is “EMC”? Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) is defined as the ability of devices and systems to operate in their electromagnetic environment without impairing their functions and without faults and vice versa. How to design it properly is a common problem faced by many electronics engineers. EMC has two aspects: Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) and Electro Magnetic Susceptibility (EMS).   EMC pursues three main classes of issue. They are disturbance sources, coupling path, and sensitive devices: ●   Disturbance sources can be divided into EMI and EMS. ●   Coupling can be conducted through air and wire. ●   There are low sensitive and high sensitive devices. EMC trouble wouldn’t exist when one of the problems above is solved. Some of the EMC auxiliary device  could probably be used according to specific situations.   2. The Basics of EMC Diagnosis 1) Interference Source of EMC Main EMI Interference Source: crystal oscillator, switch...

A Brief Introduction to Thermal Performance of Modular Switching Power Supply

图片
With the fast development of technology, various industries request modular power supply  to be miniaturization. Under this trend, the thermal performance of modular power supply becomes the key factor which affects the reliability and life cycle of electronic devices. There are two methods to improve thermal performance of modular power supply, one is to reduce the heat from the source, and the other is to focus on heat dissipation and accelerate the heat export. I. Major loss of switching power supply To reduce the heat of modular power supply means to reduce the loss of switched-mode power supply . Nowadays mainstream modular power supplies are switching power supplies, and its loss includes switching loss, on-state loss, and core loss etc. A. Switching loss Switching loss means the loss generated by power switch, such as MOS and Diode, which are switching on and off according to duty ratio. As shown in Figure 1 which is MOS switch status diagram, it can be seen that swit...

MORNSUN Power Solutions for 5G Wireless

图片
The latest approach to wireless transmission -- 5th Generation wireless -- means much more than just faster video streaming on smart devices. As this revolutionary new approach, more commonly referred to as 5G, begins replacing 4G, there is an increasing demand for efficient, compact power solutions for both the infrastructure that supports it and the applications that interact with it.   What Is 5G Wireless?  5G is best described as the next-generation wireless technology that further enhances communication between IoT (Internet of Things) devices. This communications protocol, which is based on the IEEE 802.11ac wireless networking standard, promises internet access speeds up to three times faster than 4G.   Over the next 15 years, 5G is expected to contribute $2.2 trillion to the global economy, according to a report by Business Insider. The infrastructure market alone, which is going to undergo major changes in order to be 5G compatible, is expected to be worth...
